This is a cracking Rhone blend from the US of A, Columbia Valley – Washington/Oregon to be precise but it’s only available in the UK. We only have a small parcel so when it’s gone it’s gone. An outstanding effort by head winemaker Brian Weil, the 2014 ‘Gran Rouge’ Red Wine is a juicy and delicious Syrah heavy based red blend from Washington. The wine begins with cherry, blueberry and balsamic nose. Silky, red fruit, bright acidity, there’s a little balsamic (a reduction?) on the palate with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and hibiscus.
